Deep in the ocean where sunlight can no longer penatrate, lies an incredible world of darkness. And against all odds, this just happens to be the location of one of nature's most impressive artifical light shows. The creatures here have evolved their own ways of dealing with the darkness. Through a process known as bioluminecence, they have developed the ability to use the chemicles in their body to produce light. There are a lot of different of species of bioluminescence fish in the deepest of oceans where it is the darkest place on earth. but not to dark because of the fish that glow.

Bioluminescence occurs when chemicles in the body are mixed together. Just like the green glow sticks when you break the seals and the chemicles mix setting off a green glow. Most of the colors seen on these fish are blue or green because "blue travels faster in water."
Some of these fish give off light continually. Others flash their lights by mixing their chemicles or covering up their lights with a fin flap or something like that.

Here is the websight i got some of my information off of.

Now im just wondering why im writing all this stuff when it has nothing to do with how the fish live in all that pressure from being so deep underwater. If a human went down that deep our heads would blow up or be smooshed flat from the sides at the ears. The only reason we have discoverd hundreds of these fish is becuase of this underwater submariine made for scientist to go to the deepest parts of the oceans in the 1960's.

This year is finally Coming to an end. My classmates and I have finished all our projects. This semester we have all done some tough but really cool projects with much work and many assignments for the projects. Having a lot of work is not the fun really cool part of the projects. but it's all good. We all have worked pretty hard, and spent much time on each project.

The Pandemic project/Outbreak project was the first project all my fellow classmates worked on first. I have a website (right) http://wshs-pandemic-prevention.posterous.com/. This website was created by a couple of classmates and myself. It has many other links attached to it that talk about preventing a pandemic, or keeping people safe, and how to help the little children and prevent them from getting the disease/pandemic. Another thing our group has on our pandemic page is infromation to the viewers. like Influenza 101. Simple notes and tips to help learn about preventing viruses. The big idea of the project is to learn how to stay safe of diseases and prevent the diseases. Also learned a little about what we are supposed to do if we do get a disease. Some other important things we learned about was the 1918 spanish flu/influenza/bird flu.

Another Project my classmates, and I  have worked on is the Race Project. Here is another link to my next project. (Right)  This website was the second project of the sememster. It was a shorter project but still not easy, even though it was not hard either. I did my race project on the Rwanda Genocide. It was race that caused it and the anger of people against other people. For example the Holocaust was like race but it was because of religion so, sort of the same thing. The big idea we learned in this project was how bad a genocide can be. A tradgedy like the Rwanda Genocide, or worst, the Holocaust. Millions of people dead just because of religion, or the color of someones skin.

Finnaly, the last project. The last project we have worked on was the Evolution project. All my classmates and I have spent weeks and weeks of time working on it. My final assignment to the project was a Animoto video and it explains my driving question that I have created and done my evolution work based on answering that question and explaing my argument that I have also created.(right)  To the left is my video. I talk about Evolution of disease and explain how it works in the video. I give examples of Evolution of Disease and my driving question is. Why is the Understanding of Evolution of Disease important?
The big Idea of this project is that evolution may even be the reason we(us humans)are here. I have learned about evolution and how everthing evolves such as Animals, Humans, bugs, insects, and even bacteria. Have we evolved from a fish? a monkey? if monkey, what did the monkey evolve from?

These are my Project Pages for each project I have completed.

The link (above) is the project page for the short but tough race project.

Reflection

One of the big ideas I have learned this semester were
Analyzing aurthers arguments and evidence. That big idea was for the book my class and I were reading called "Your Inner Fish."

Some of my strengths this sememster was staying on task big time! I use to not pay attention but this semester I feel I have done really well with not falling asleep or goofing off with students and stayed concentrated and on task.
Some of my weaknesses this semester were keeping myself from goofing off. I really wanted to not pay attention and mess around with frineds and not do my work, but I did my best at resisting that urge to not work.
My work in this class has changed over the course of the year a lot because I have done a lot more work this semester then I have last sememster.
How can I apply what I have learned in future situations (classes, jobs, etc,)? I can apply all this hard work I have done this sememster and hopefully the job interviews or the classes will like what I have done.
If I had to do over again, what would I change about my work in this class? I would change my final presentation for the Evolution project. Because I diden't do my best on the visual part of the presentation but feel I did really well.

Grade Argument and Evidence

The grades I have earned for this sememster on these past projects were 2 B's and 1 C. I feel im at a B grade for all the work I have done not just this semester, but this Whole year! I feel I have done really well. I have always got all my work done and done a good job on almost everything. Sure there were a few weaknesses in me that tryed to beat me down and almost stopped me from moving on and keep working. But I kept myself strong and got my work done anyways.
My evidence to prove my work is all on this link (right) http://posterous.com/# this website is my posterous and has tons of work I have done this semester and last sememster.
I think i have done really well and deserve a B grade.

Thank you for reading my 2011-2012 semester porfolio 2

1.) What is your driving question?
My driving question is- How important is the understanding of Evolution of Disease?

2.) What are the most suprising/interesting/important things you have learned about it?
I have learned that disease's have evolved so much, a 2nd thing that has really suprised me was that evolution gets blocked by the medicins we take to stop the disease, but the disease will always evolve around it and find its way around. and Finally i have learned is that diseases come out of no where. just brand new diseases come from know where and kill very many people.

3.) What new questions do I have about my question?
What diseases have evolution affected? Has evolution affected all Diseases?

4.) What are the best sources for information that you have found so far?
I have found three good sources that I think will work great for my information.

5.)

In this project I feel that I am doing fairly well like some of the other projects I have done. I have turned in all my latest work and I'm keeping my grade up pretty good, but this here assignment is sorta rough. I understand a lot about evolution now that we been learning about it. I had no idea what evolution was before we started working on this project. There are so many interesting things about evolution. Like the theory that Charles Darwin came up with in the 1800's. I think i have done good on turning in all my work and understanding Darwins theory.

Mon, 16 Apr 2012 08:39:00 -0700 creation myth http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/creation-myth-16947 http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/creation-myth-16947

German Creation Myth

In the beginning there nothing existed except for Ginnungagap. Neither sand, sea, heaven or earth was created. After a long span of time, A new realm amenated in the south called Muspell. It was made of fire, glowing embers, and scorching heat. In the north a second region sprang forth called Niflheim. It was made of bitter winds, and freezing ice, and snow.

I guess the Myth says that Ginnungagap was between the two regions. A giant was created named Ymir who was made when the great fire and the great ice and snow all colided together.

The first men and women were born from Ymir's "left armpit," when he was sleeping. The ice in Ginnungagap was starting to melt.

A bunch of stuff happend over the years like how the new human race grew their population and built a smalll town and kept building and populating so then the town was eventually a large city that built around Ginnungagap.

A man named Mundilfari had a son named moon and a daughter named sun, they became imortal and gave the night and the day for the new world.

My thoughts on this Creation myth are not so great. I have seen some stuff on other myths and they seem like a better then this story. Like seriously. none of us were born from a giants left armpit. -_-
thats like not cool. Sure its a pretty good story like in the beginning when it talks about Ginnungagap and how in the north there was ice and in the south there was fire and when they colided a giant was created. I think that should have created the man. Because it creates a giant and the giant creates the man from his sweaty armpit when he is sleeping.

Chapter 1

Year 1

There was once a Magicle creature named Zoltan. He was flying through space. The Magic Creature was flying to fast, and lost control. The very large creature ran into a star. The Magic creature was strong enough to deflect the blow. But there seemed to be a gravitaional pull comeing from where the star once was. So the Magicle creature looked at it once more and saw something strange. He noticed a large world pulling him to it.

Zoltan did not know what to do because he did not have the power to land so well, as you now know ran into the star to hard in the first place. He was being pulled faster and harder closer to the new world. He stared at the round planet with the blue water, the green land, and the white clouds. He tried with all his strength to fly away from it but he got to close so he could not. He was worried about death. But he had no strength to pull himself away anymore. He came in hot, looking as if he was a large flaming ball. He crashed close to land but in the water he landed. He skid across the blue soft waves. Intel he started to sink.

He washed ashore and woke up in pain. Cuts and deep brusies, his scales burned from the fire. He could not breath the oxygen that the tree's let off. He used all the power he had left, to create a women, a human being. and at the last moment before he could die, he transformed into a man. He could breath again, the oxygen. He still had powers but not all of them. He dident remember how to do them, but only because his brain was different and knew. He created wooden tools and cut down trees. he built houses built his own farm. He married the women he was with. they made babies and populated the small town he has created. He created animals like cows deer and sheep. He planted sees and grew a Large garden. He created many more people for the town. it grew larger each day with one more person added to the town. The men tended to the animals and the farm, they also planted the food and built the buildings. The women cleaned the house, cooked all the food made the cloths and had the babies.

To the west of the small town, there was a hill not going up but going down because the town is at the top of the hill. Just past the hill, there were large plains, which were used for farming. To the east of the small town at the top of the hill, there were Enormous Moutains. Which there for, were named the Enormous Moutains. To the north of the small town there were large woods which were for cutting wood to make more buildings. The children were not aloud to enter because they were easy to get lost in.

The women that Zoltan has married is called Mia. Zoltan and Mia lived in the large hut, at the top of hill, south of the small town. They were like the king and queen, even though they did not run a kingdom, they did not have servents, or slaves.

Zoltan went to the garden to find his wife and tell her he is home for the rest of the beautiful evening. He found her watering the red roses and along the side of the hut.

"Hello Mia. I will be home the rest of the night!" Zoltan said.

"Thats great Zoltan. Finnaly your home. I have been feeling sort of nausia and I think I am pregnant with our first child."

Zoltans mouth drops open in shock from what he just heard.

"Uhh Zoltan? are you ok?"

"oh uhh yea i'm sorry i guess i got overley exited from what you have just told me."

"yea I will go inside and start cooking our dinner."

Chapter 2

5 Years Later

It has been 5 years and the town has grown. There are many young kids all over the town. the town is growing in population. Everest has been heating up and feels very sick. Since he still had his magic powers, things went wrong when he became sick. Different things happen everyday with each symptom he has. His head heats up, so does the the rest of planet to tempature. Yesterday he was coughing, and with every cough he set off loud thunder. "bang!" with a strike of lightning that followes the thunder. When he vomits, It rains very heavily and the lake floods the towns roads. With each time Everest sneezes, A freezing blizzard comes through the town.

Mia came in her and Everests bedroom in the hut. Everest layed there sick with a fever. It was very hot outside and all the kids and parents were spending there day at the lake.

"Everest, I have brought you a cold wet rag from the river to help with your fever."

"Thank you Mia. Hopefully this will help me much more with my sickness. I am worried about the town people, If i have this sickness to long, it will get the rest of the villagers sick and they may die of my illness that i have given them."

"dont say that Everest. you will make it and so will the people. You have to stay alive for me."

"If I are to die from this sickness, you must bury me at the top of the peak of the Enourmous Moutains. Its there I feel the most power. It is there I will be free from this horrible sickness that I have retrived. I will have all of the most wonderful powers once more.

Everest suddenly coughs very hard and sneezes very loud at the same time makeing him pass out from how sickley he felt. Mia knew that sounded bad so she rushed outside. As soon as Mia stepped out of her hut, it had started to rain, Since she could look over the town, because her house was at the top of the hill. Mia looked to west where the farms were at, and she noticed a huge white blob comeing rapidly twords the town. She felt a very freezing breeze flow through her hair and bash against her red cheek and her shakeing cold body.
She then noticed the big white blob was a freezing cold blizzard that would hit the town hard and cover it with ice cold snow, and if that happend everyone would get sick and die.

She ran inside to Everest who was coughing and sneezing and sweating horribly soaking the bed he was lying in. Mia rushed to him beside the bed and she put her palm on his forhead takeing her hand off immidiatly from the burn of his head. He then stopped moveing and shakeing and sweating. He coughed no more, and he sneezed no longer. She put her ear to his chest, and did not hear the beat from his heart.

Chapter 3

A few hours later

The sickness has stopped, and so has Everests heart. His funeral was to be held the next day. He was to be buried at the top of Enormous Moutains, on the peak is where he said He feels the most power in him. When he is buried there He will be free from the sickness and all his power will be regained.

Mon, 09 Apr 2012 11:18:00 -0700 Vladek paper http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/vladek-paper http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/vladek-paper

Vladek

Vladek is a Jewish man who survived the holocaust. Vladek went into hiding when the holocaust started. Vladek only hid for a while with his family before a man found them while he was searching their supposed to be empty house, for "food." The man reported the Jews to the Nazi's. Later that day a small group of Nazi soldiers captured them and sent them off to a refugee camp.

The holocaust started because of race and the nazi's hated what the Jews belived in. Hitler did not like the jews at all. Vladek was seperated from most of his family including his wife. He knew he could not give up like almost all of the other Jews in the camps. Vladek felt like he had to be an active survivor and not just one of the lucky ones.

Vladek became an active survivor by working a whole lot. He worked so hard and sometimes got extra food, and talking of food. Vladek rations his food so he would eat half his bread one day, and saved the other half for the next day. Sometimes Vladek would recive a crate full of chocolate, and cigeretts. He dident smoke so to help himself be even more of an active survivor. He would trade other jews his smokes for their bread.

When Vladek was on the train to another refugee camp, him and 100 other jews in one train car were givin a small peice of bread and a small blanket. The train was really packed so know one would be able to move around. Vladek tho hung his blanket up and sat in it and slept in it like a hammock. He hung it from the ceiling of the train car. When he felt dehydrated he would reach his hand out the car and grab some snow to eat. Everyday on that train all of the people would die one by one. Vladek dident want to touch them just in case they might have a disease he could get.

In the next camp that Vladek has arived to after the very long train ride, he saw dead people everywhere. He then became sick with a disease that was going through the camp and killing all of the Jews faster then they already were dieing. He was givin a peice of bread one day and to ration it he stuffed it under his pillow for later because he felt to weak to eat it then. Vladek looked so dead from the illness, the guards thought he was dead. So they took the bread from under his pillow and Vladek couldent yell so he started banging his shoe against the bed so the guard only gave him back half of his bread.

Thu, 29 Mar 2012 09:43:00 -0700 How important is race? http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/how-important-is-race http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/how-important-is-race

Here is a link to the video if it doesn't show up above: http://animoto.com/play/LWU7Fp9iwKQl90AaelNzcQ

This video is about the Rwanda genocide and a it's a short clip. It also speaks of my answer to the driving question.

How important is race?

Race is very important around the world. There are different cultures of races all over the world and in every country. Theres so many different kinds of races in every country. Every ones race is based on where their from. You get your race from family that passes down their race to you when your born. Without race what would we be? we wouldent even have a any color in our skin? We wouldent know who we are or who anyone else is. I think thats the main reasong race is Important. Without it we woulden't be anything or anyone.

Every single person in this world have a race. Like me, i'm and Native American. I have gained my Native American from my mom, and my white European from Germany in me, from my dad. People say say that race and peoples skin color is darker when their born closer to the equater. I dont belive that one bit. People are born like the skin color of their parents because it's a trait passed down from the childrens parents. none of us really know why people were born with the skin color they were born with, and we will never be exactly sure why. but i dont think its because people were born closer to the equater so that makes them have darker skin. I dont think thats why but i can't also say I have a reason to why people are different skin colors. But if i had to say something i would say that it's because of our cultures and where our family comes from.

In Rwanda So many people died just because of race and how powerful people think thety are. So powerful they think they just can kill people and no one will do anything to stop him/her.
people arent really that powerful. They ju say they are and if people belive it they start following behind that person and eventually war came. Eventhough it was not really war it was more like genocide and thats what it pretty much was.

Last week in Mr. Oldens room my classmates and I have done many things. We have read the book Maus which we have to be doing intel we are finished. All of us have also taken a big test and I think it was made by Mr. Olden but i'm not sure. On the book Maus i'm around the page 150. I have much more to read. In Mr. Oldens I have learned so much about the holocaust like how millions of Jews were killed and many of the rest starved to death. so many people... dead.
There were Jews who survived. There was the jews in camps who starved and hardly did anything but still some how lived. there were the survivors who were in camps that worked hard to get extra food and kept them selfs clean. There were also survivors who were never caught and put into camps. They hid inside buildings for a long time trying to live.

Fri, 23 Mar 2012 10:43:00 -0700 Letter to the president http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/letter-to-the-president http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/letter-to-the-president

Dear Mr. President

My name is Jake swain. I have been learning very much about the Genocide in Rwanda Africa.
I have been studying on the Rwanda topic for quite a few weeks now. It's almost unbelivable what has happend in Rwanda.

In the year of 1994 there was the Rwanda Genocide. During the Genocide 800,000 people were killed in 100 days. Our country denied the request to jam the Hutus radio and there threats to kill more and more of the tutsis. Our country barley helped at all in this genocide. This genocide could have been prevented but it was not

I think we should help next time a genocide starts. It's bad enough one person dies of natural causes. But in a genocide 800,000 people dead/killed. These people were hacked and clubbed to death with machetes and clubs. Sure there were guns but most of the weapons used were machetes. Almost 100 people dead! No body needs to dies in these events if they can be prevented. I mean people were killing their own family and friends. Why would they be killing their own family most of all? What propagandas would give make them kill their own family and friends?

If we do not help next time we here of a genocide that is happening we might go into the history books again as the country who could have helped but did not. Like when we were being requested to jam the radios. We dident help, when we could have. We could have helped so much more people and I think that a lot more of the people who have died, could have lived. But unfortunatly we did not help. So thats why I think we should help next time our country heres of a genocide that is going on.

Tutsis were put in Refugee camps and they were hacked, shot, beat, clubbed, and raped. The United States of America didn't help with the Genocide to much at all. The President of Rwnada was murdered. Women became sex slaves and were beaten if they didn't do what they were told to do, and if not beaten they were killed. 1 Million people were killed in 100 days.

This week was alright. I turned in most of everything i had to turn in.
It was an easy week unlike a lot of the other weeks my classmates and I have gone through. We turned in many things that were due this week. We learned a lot about stuff that went on in Rwanda ( a country in Africa). We learned how the Hutus hated the Tutsis and just killed them like they were a bug to step on. The hutus killed so so many of them, even killed their own family and friends! Its like wat the heck is their problem! Are they complete physco inside their head. But no it was something else? What propaganda encouraged them to continue killing and murdering people. Mostly Hacking or Bludgering eveyone with Machetes and Clubs.

In Mr. Rices classroom we have been learning a lot about Cells and How all the viruses can get into the cells. The viruses have keys and those are called N1 N2 and up to N5. When the virus comes to the cell, the cell may look at the virus and say "Oh your food, yea come right in", and thats how the virus uses the key to get in the cell. Once the virus has mutated in the cell and taken over the cell it infects the body lettin the rest of the same virus know that the key thats carried around by them works on humans. There for all the rest of the virus starts infecting humans being spread by coughing, sneezing, talking, and even just breathing.

How did the pandemic plan go last week? I think it went pretty well last week because we worked together and got our work done each day.

How well did your group work? Our work went pretty well because we all worked together and had great ideas on what to do when a pandemic came. except shayla had some crazy ideas like a huge! biodome and that would take to long to make and to much money to buy.

What do i need to improve on? I need to improve on how much time it takes me to do and turn in my work. because I turn it in but i always finish right at the end of class.

What did I learn last week? I learned many things like i do everyweek. I learned some ideas we could do if a pandemic hit and what we can try to do to prevent it and what we can do to get rid of it.

What do I still need to know for my plan? I still need to know how to prevent the disease from comeing to our town if the pandemic hit and how to prevent it from getting to me.

Mon, 23 Jan 2012 10:37:00 -0800 Pandemic Research http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/pandemic-research http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/pandemic-research

The Great Pandemic

http://1918.pandemicflu.gov/

You can learn a little bit about life in 1918 and the pandemic

Roller skating rinks, pool halls, bowling alleys, and amusment parks were most visited by people in 1918 because they had more money in the early 1900's. When the Pandemic hit people in those areas became infected with the influenza fast because so many people visited those places. When people got the influenza and went to those places, they infected almost everyone they breathed on or even around. Talking to other people could infect that other person.

The 1918 Influenza Pandemic

http://virus.stanford.edu/uda/

It gives information about deaths from the 1918 pandemic

The 1918 Pandemic Influenza killed more people then the great war known today as WW1. The amount of deaths around the world from the Pandemic Influenza in 1918 was around 20 to 40 million people!!! The 1918 Pandemic Influenza was said to be the most devestating Pandemic in world history.

The Influenza Epidemic

http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/influenza-epidemic/

Says some information on how dangerous the Influenza is

WW1 claimed an estimate of 16 million deaths and the influenza pandemic that swept over the world in 1918 claimed an estimate of 50 million deaths. The first phase of the 1918 Influenza Pandemic was known as the three-day fever that came without warning at all. The flu infected over 25% of Americas population!

In this project we have just started learning about the influenza flu. The Influenza flu is a deadly very contageous flu that spreads very rapidly through the air, it is an airborn flu. When people breath, cough, and sneeze they spread the Influenza flu into the air and anyone that breaths it will get it. Nowadays people get flu shots and then they wouldent get the influenza. I learned that in the 1918 influenza pandemic people did not see it comeing so they got it really fast and died just a few days later. What people dident understand is that the influenza was attacking the stronger people, so the people between the ages 20 and 40. The children and the elderly were most likley to survive. The Influenza infected the whole world killing 650,000 people in just America. Millions of people died total over the whole world. As fast as the Influenza came it lasted a few months. Then it just dissapered.

I have a work sample of my Final Draft of my RAFTS. I have done many things over the first semester and that RAFTS link is one of my main assignments i turned in. I have went on a field trip to Boniville Dam. I learned many things about the use of dams there and how the salmon get through it. Another work sample is my Guiding question response which was one of my major assigninments i had to turn in for the shrub steppe project.

I learned a lot of things over the first semester such as history on the boniville dam, and salmon. I learned how salmon have a rough life trying to move through the river, with all the dams in the way and the predators searching for salmon as food. The salmon have to go through the river to the ocean. Once the salmon have lived in the river for a several years they have to make the journey back home through the river to spawn. The salmons mouths shut close so they do not eat on the journey home. The salmon have to pass many predators and humans nets and fishing lines, and they have to pass through the dams, just to get to their spawning grounds where they lay their eggs. passing through the dams is tough for the salmon and can take up to a couple of weeks. sometimes the salmon pass right through and only take a day. That is some of the things i learned during the Salmon vs Dams project.

For this semester I belive I have earned a grade C. I think this beacause i got a D on my shrub steppe project but then I got a B on my Salmon vs Dams project. some work samples I have that make me belive I get a C or already shown above.

My Reflection

My strengths: My strengths in this semester were my projects. I feel like i did really well on my projects and most of all my second project.

My weaknesess: My weaknesess were not understanding things very well. I think i need to be talked to by a teacher in class straight up to understand things.

How has my work changed in class over the year so far? Well I it has inproved alot because during the first project, the shrub steppe project, I got a project grade around a D. When the second project was finished, the Salmon vs Dams project, I got a project grade around a B.

How can I apply what i learned to future situations? I can apply what I learned by remembering these things i learned and using them for future jobs, and schools.

If I had to do it over again i would change my work by doing alot more work and be way more specific. I would change that because a lot of my work that has gotten a lot of feedback and most of it was telling me to be more spefic.

Driving Question: Should we remove Columbia River dams to restore Salmon populations?

I am in the media role and my job is to interview my witness and possibly record some of the moc trial.

I went to Bonneville Dam. I have also read many articles on the internet about Salmon, and Dams. I think I have learned the most things in class. Another thing that i have learned is that Salmon have to travel through Dams on the columbia and it can take up to a couple weeks before the Salmon find their way out. When the Fish get into the ocean the eat a lot! The highest weaghing Salmon I heard of was 120+ pounds. The Salmon, when they are ready to spawn, they go back to the river. When they get to the Columbia River they will know it because of the smell or the non-salty water. The Salmon travel up the river against the strong currents, and through the Dams. If the Salmon do not get caught in fishing nets or get killed by fish eating animals, or get lost and die in the Dams they will get to their spawning grounds to lay their eggs. After the mother and father fish spawn... They die. They die because once they get to the river from the ocean their mouths just force shut and lock. Their mouths do not open for any reason at all.

In Bonneville Dam I learned about how much Energy, and Electricity is made there. Its amazing! Theres only one problem though, Bonneville Dam, and all the other Dams are dieing, and thier number count is decresing rappidly. The Bonneville Dam has 10 Hydropowered Generaters. The Generaters spinned faster then u can even immagine! On the outside of the spinning Generaters, there is copper which makes the electricity. The spinning Generater is only 3/4 of an inch away from the copper. The closer the Generater is to the copper when it is spinning the more electricity u get. Since the spinning Generater is so close the the copper, it sets off maximum power, and thats just one of the Generaters. Since Theres 10 Generaters and only one gives u maximum power, imagine what you get with 10! We have more power then we need. So i think that we should get rid of some of the Dams. I say we do not need all the Dams so I think that some of them are just in the way.

I will interview my witness and ask questions like, Are you for the Dams or the Salmon? Why are you for the salmon/dams? Why do you want the salmon to stay? Do you want to get rid of the dams? Why is it you want to get rid of the dams? Dont you want electricity? If you got rid of the dams, how do you think people who want the dams will react? After i have asked many questions to my witness Robert, I will start to wrap up. As the media, I will try to beat down my wittness with very many questions trying to make him crack and not know what to say. If he does not know what to say i have finished my questions and have it on camera. After i wrap up i may get to film some of the court case in action.

Just yesterday on december 7 i witnessed the mock case rehersal and it did not go as well as it could have. some questions were pulled out against both sides of the dams, and the salmon. For me, i couldent even tell which side was doing better. I have prepared my questions and a few pages of notes for the interview. I even have a story bord from the whole team, I would put a picture of it from edmodo but it keeps messing up the typing screen. I have written a script for the interview with my witness Robert Garza.

Wed, 23 Nov 2011 11:01:23 -0800 Reflection for week 1 project http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/reflection-for-week-1-project http://wshsjakes.posterous.com/reflection-for-week-1-project

I learned many things this week. I have learned stuff like The Salmon Life Cycle and their contibutions to the Yakama Watershed. i havent learned much about it, just that the salmon start out as little red eggs then they are born and something called Alven. After that its something called Juenille, then they travle to the Pacific Ocean for a long distence and grow up there in the ocean. Then they fish will take their long journey back to their homeland in the Columbia River.

On the travel back from the ocean, the Salmon have a lot of touble getting the their spawning grounds. There are many reasons that the Salmon have a lot of trouble getting there. 1 of the reasons that they have trouble is because of over-fishing. Many fishermen have had over-fished in the Columbia River, and taken way to many salmon. Another reason the Salmon have trouble is because of mining, and another reason is because of forestry. Trees have gone into The Columbia River and crushed, smashed, and killed the salmon! The main reason they have had trouble is because of Dams!

Now the dams are good actually great becuase we use them. The dams have Hydropowered Generators that do not polute our air in any way but the Salmon are having trouble getting through them. We need our Dams for power but a lot of fish die going through them because they cant find their way and get lost and starve. some make it through but not all... note: all these salmon going through the dams and dieng are trying to get to their spawning grounds to lay their eggs.
